TabBuddy AI

Privacy policy

Last updated October 13, 2026

TabBuddy AI ("TabBuddy", "we", "us") is a Chrome extension that manages your browser tabs, made by Shazzadul Sagor. This policy explains what data the extension and this website handle, where it goes, and what you control.

The short version

  • We don't collect your data. TabBuddy has no account, no server of its own, no analytics and no tracking. We never see your tabs, your history or how you use the extension.
  • Everything TabBuddy saves stays in your browser, on your computer.
  • Data leaves your browser in two cases only, both your choice: checking a Pro license with Lemon Squeezy, and using a cloud AI provider with your own API key.
  • We don't sell, rent or share personal data with anyone, for any purpose.

What the extension stores, and where

TabBuddy keeps its data in your browser's own storage for extensions. None of it is sent to us.

  • Settings, such as your default sort, which window the popup lists and the sites you never want suspended. If you have turned on Chrome sync, Chrome copies these to your other computers through your Google Account, under Google's privacy policy.
  • Your trial's dates: when it started, when TabBuddy last ran and how many free AI organizes you've used. They're kept on this computer and, with Chrome sync on, in your Google Account, so the trial counts once across your computers.
  • Saved sessions: the titles and addresses of the tabs you chose to save, with their tab groups.
  • Tab history: the addresses and titles of pages you open in normal windows, up to 5,000, for search. Never pages in incognito windows.
  • Stats: daily counts of what TabBuddy did, such as duplicates removed and tabs suspended. No addresses or titles.
  • Your license key, and any AI provider API keys, kept on this computer only. They are never synced.
  • Your last page summary, until you close the browser.

You can export everything except your keys from Settings → Data → Export all data, and erase it all from Settings → Data → Delete all data. Uninstalling TabBuddy removes everything it stored on that computer.

Permissions, and why TabBuddy asks for them

  • Tabs and tab groups: to list, sort, group, move, suspend and close your tabs.
  • Storage and unlimited storage: to keep the settings, sessions, history and stats above.
  • Alarms: for automatic suspension, the license check every few days and the end of the trial.
  • Notifications: to tell you what automatic duplicate closing did, or if your license stops working.
  • Favicons: to show tab icons from Chrome's own cache, without fetching them from the web.
  • Side panel and active tab: to show summaries, and to read the page you're on when you ask for its summary from the toolbar.
  • Access to api.lemonsqueezy.com: for license checks only.
  • Optional, asked for only when needed: reading a website's pages, asked site by site when you summarize a tab from it, and access to an AI provider's API, asked when you add its key and given back when you remove it.

AI features

By default, TabBuddy uses the AI built into Chrome, which runs on your computer. Your tabs are processed by Chrome on your device and are not sent anywhere. Chrome downloads its model when you first ask for it.

If you add your own API key for Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude or OpenAI (a Pro feature) and choose that provider, TabBuddy sends requests from your browser straight to the provider. They include only what the feature needs:

  • Grouping and the command bar: the titles of the tabs involved, cut to 80 characters, and their addresses shortened to the site and path, without query strings. The command bar also sends the request you typed.
  • Smart search: your search, and the short title, site and date of the pages it might match.
  • Summaries: the text of the pages you asked to summarize, up to 6,000 words each.

Your API key goes only to its own provider. What the provider does with requests is governed by its terms and privacy policy: Google, Anthropic and OpenAI. Remove the key in Settings → AI and TabBuddy stops sending anything to that provider.

Purchases and licenses

Pro is sold by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy processes your payment and handles taxes, and collects what that takes, such as your name, email address, billing country and payment details, under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details. Lemon Squeezy shares your name, email address and order details with us, which we use only to deliver your license, answer you and handle refunds.

To check your license, the extension sends Lemon Squeezy your license key, an ID for this installation and, when you activate, a name for this computer such as "TabBuddy on macOS 2026-10-12". It checks when the browser starts and every few days. These requests never include anything about your tabs.

This website

This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, shows no ads, and its fonts are served from this site.

  • Visits aren't counted: this site has no analytics.
  • If you pick a light or dark theme, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage, on your device.
  • The demo video comes from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and nothing from YouTube loads until you press play.
  • This site is hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, may log basic request data, such as IP addresses and browser types, to keep the site running and secure. Vercel's privacy policy applies.

Children

TabBuddy isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone.

Your rights

Because TabBuddy keeps your data in your browser, you control it directly: export it, delete it or uninstall the extension. For purchase records, contact us or Lemon Squeezy, and we'll help you access, correct or delete them, as the laws where you live allow.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your browser, we'll say so in the changelog too.
